Frequently Asked Questions

1. What should I bring with me on the trip?
  • BRING CASH!! This is super important! Most of the estate sales we visit do not accept credit cards.
  • We recommend you bring your fully charged smartphone. You'll want to be comparing prices on items at the sales.
  • Your negotiating skills!!! Every price you see is negotiable. Most homeowners have an everything-must-go attitude, so be sure to negotiate!

2. What is an estate sale?
  • An estate sale is a liquidation of the assets left behind in a home when someone moves.
  • It takes place inside the home with various items available for purchase in each room. Think of a garage sale inside each room in the house.

3. How much does it cost?
  • Each ticket is $40 and includes round trip transportation, water and a snack.
  • Group rates and private party trips are available so contact us for pricing information and to plan your next trip.

4. What if I buy a large item too big to carry?
  • If you buy any large items, you can arrange delivery yourself or we can deliver it for you.
  • When you're negotiating remember to factor in the cost of delivery.
  • Homeowners are typically understanding and will allow you or your movers a few days to pick up items you purchased if you would like to coordinate delivery yourself. We will be happy to provide a delivery quote on site before your purchase.

5. What areas will the tour explore?
  • The Bargain Bus currently operates in Westchester in towns such as Chappaqua, Pound Ridge, Bedford, Rye, Scarsdale, Tarrytown, Sleepy Hollow, and Connecticut in towns such as Greenwich, New Canaan, Norwalk and more!!
  • We follow the sales. We go for the best!

6. When are there tours?
  • Tours can happen Friday, Saturday and Sunday, schedule permitting. Please check upcoming events.  We coordinate tours with private parties, schools, senior centers or anyone else that might want to come for a ride!

7. What's for lunch?
  • When we go to special events, there are usually food vendors. If it's an estate sale day, we make one stop for refreshments or lunch.  You are more than welcome to bring your own food if you would prefer. Be sure to let us know if you have any allergies!!!

8. What if I don't have money on me for an item?
  • We recommend you bring lots of cash on your trip!! You'll be shopping all day! If you fall short, but really want an item, we will be able to take payment via credit/debit card for you, but there will be a 10% premium, so be sure to bring cash!
